SPINOFF

Like an unwanted child the human mind is haunted by its accidental origins. Even more it fears the inevitable cosmic glitch that will bring about its end. All our myths of creation and destiny play upon this same ubiquitous angst. Sometimes our whole mode of thinking seems but a transparent facade designed to conceal some sense of guilt and vulnerability. All our inventions do after all assimilate, elaborate, contradict other human ideas. Galileo's doodles, Shakespeare's plots, Descarte's idee, Rousseau's jungle: all borrowings from and reflections upon that arsenal of riddles we call wisdom. Here again is that familiar imaginary tumble into the dark void of voluntary wonderment. Perhaps it is all just a trick we borrowed from the arboreal apes and still find endlessly amusing.
