Art is not always easy or simple. The coexistent image does not spring full blown from the intuition. It is the result of a sequential process where desperate deletions and hazardous addenda are the means to insights and inventions that were unknown and perhaps unknowable at the outset. Whether facture preserves or obscures their traces, chance and change are intrinsic to the process. The artist can only claim responsibility for the final image. If it has the sting of unexpected inevitability, then perhaps the process is well ended. But for the viewer, further options may ensue.
