FRANK EIFERT STUDIO

THEATRICK

Each of the arts has its own repertoire of ploys. Here we have tried to exploit the dramatic susceptibilities by using pictorial equivalents for costume, posture, gesture, eccentricity and disguise. These borrowings may tend to evoke something like a theatrical response. But that might lead one to look for a story line. The silent and still two-dimensional image usually waits upon the eye and mind to fathom their own meaning. Here the urgency of our false ploy inclines us to choose or anticipate a comic interpretation. Perhaps like the actor, the visual image should reach out to grab our attention and force us to see how or why or indeed if this art might really matter.
